Sell solar energy with your tablet
Rexel Netherlands has created and launched a SmartSun application to support their customers and commercial team to boost solar PV sales.
The application allows installers to design a customized solution for the end-user that can be viewed from a tablet computer. The application can measure the roof area, provide real time configurations, a visualization of the panels on the roof, an ROI calculation and last but not least, generate a sales offer.
Using augmented reality technology, the installer can measure the roof intended for the installation using their tablet from the ground. The application not only calculates the size of the roof but also the roof’s incline and geographic orientation.
Once the measurements are taken, the number of panels required is calculated and the most suitable type of solar panel is selected. The selection is then optimized to the correct roof size and angle then applied to the visual of the building, all in real time, in front of the customer. In addition, the application also shows a complete list of data related to the purchase, the selling price, the expected energy gain and the ROI.
Rexel Netherlands has been nominated for 2 awards for the SmartSun app: The award for “Innovation” at the Solar Solutions fair in Holland, which took place on the 16th April 2014, and the “Disruptor of the Year” award, which recognizes game-changing solutions at the Dutch Interactive Awards, taking place in mid-May.
