Rexel France opens a new distribution center for an enhanced service level to its local customers
On November 19, the new distribution center in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region (south-western France), namely Cestas 2, opened its doors. With a 9,000 m2 storage space and 25,000 SKUs, the platform aims to serve Rexel’s clients even faster and improve supply and delivery service to local institutions and branches in the region.
With a surface of 18,000 m2, Cestas 2, which is twice as large as the previous distribution center, offers a wider range of SKUs and greater availability of products thanks to streamlined supply chain flows and optimized stock management. This meets the Group’s goal to deliver orders on a same-day basis (for orders placed before 6 p.m.) and therefore improve the level of service to customers.
With regards to the location of the new center, Rexel decided to maintain its presence in a strategic region with high business development potential and chose to host the platform in a BREEAM certified building (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) to ensure low energy consumption and limited impact on the environment. The rooftop of the building is equipped with photovoltaic panels that supply 20% of the electricity necessary to its operation.
This building also meets the French ICPE (Installation Classée pour la Protection de l’Environnement) regulatory requirements, which confirms the Group’s commitment to sustainable and responsible practices.
