Inauguration of the Auckland Art Gallery
At the end of a 4-year project to completely renovate the Auckland Art Gallery, this emblematic Auckland landmark, which was built in 1887, opened its doors to the public again on 3 September.
Rexel and Ideal, Group subsidiaries in New Zealand, played their part in the renovation, by offering expert lighting solutions specifically designed for exhibition venues. They provided the major part of the specialized lighting systems, for a total amount of € 1.2 million euros (NZ$ 2 million)
The gallery, which is dedicated to New Zealand and international painting and sculpture houses, in particular, an impressive collection of Maori and Pacific Islands art, dating from 1376 to the modern day.
The renovated building now has a total floor space of 7,000 sq.m., with over half of that space being devoted to exhibition areas.
Rexel helps in major renovation projects worldwide by offering the most effective and most eco-efficient solutions, in particular in lighting, such as, for example, the Towers of the Deutsche Bank in Hamburg, Germany, the Forth Valley hospital in Scotland and the West Quay shopping centre in the UK.
