Rexel supports regions tackling climate change at two international conferences in Paris and Vienna

Rexel Austria and Rexel Group join forces in support of regions for climate at the R20 Austria & EU conference, in Vienna, and on the Solutions COP21 stand at the World Summit of Regions for Climate, in Paris.

In the run up to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, and as a founding partner of Solutions COP21 (a coalition of companies, institutions, local authorities, research institutes and associations with the aim to promote practical initiatives and climate change solutions), Rexel took an active role in two major events focusing on regional action to fight climate change.

On the 9th and 10th of October, R20, a non-profit organization founded by former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, organized a conference in Vienna gathering representatives of the EU’s energy and environmental ministers, sub-national governments, senior executives from the business community, investors and experts on politics, renewable energy, climate change and green business (including representatives from NGOs and academic institutions), to discuss the key issues and opportunities for building strong sustainable economies and making clean and local sources of energy available.

As one of the key sponsors of the event, this was a great opportunity for Rexel Austria to demonstrate its commitment to fighting climate change through the promotion of energy efficient products and solutions, through its training programs for Austrian installers and SMEs in their transition to energy-efficient best practice, as well as through new partnerships along the value chain. Robert Pfarrwaller, CEO of Rexel Austria, addressed an audience of more than 380 people on the topic of “Future Economic Strategies leading to the Turnaround,” based on the conclusions of a roundtable on “Energy Efficiency: Examples in Practice” co-hosted by Michaela Sadleder, Rexel Austria’s Chief Operations Officer.

As a founding partner of Solutions COP21, Rexel was also invited to take part in the World Summit of Regions for Climate, which took place in Paris on the 10th and 11th of October. Also organized by R20, the summit was held to mobilize the world’s regions and cities, businesses, investors and universities around a joint declaration calling for commitment to a series of concrete actions within the framework of the Road to Paris 2015, and to push forward the “positive agenda” of the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Paris next year. At a dedicated stand for partners of Solutions COP21, Rexel presented the key initiatives launched by the Rexel Foundation for a better energy future and its support of community projects, research grants and knowledge campaigns to raise awareness and provide access to energy efficiency for all.
