Rexel China helps equipping China Universal Expo buildings with low-consumption lighting

From May to October 2010, Shanghai will host the 55th World Expo, an event which has been running for 150 years, and which could gather 70 million visitors. 55 pavilions in the 5.28 km2 park will showcase exhibitions, events and forums on the Expo’s theme, “Better City, Better Life”.

Accelerating electrical progress for a more sustainable world, the Rexel Group has been actively involved in supplying lighting for many Expo building construction projects. For the China Pavillion – the 160,000m2 feature pavilion shaped like an oriental crown– Rexel provided low-consumption lamps, including LEDs, as well lighting accessories.

Together with contractors, Rexel China provided design and solution advice, installation support as well as maintenance services to facilitate the lighting of the following buildings in the Expo: China Pavilion, Theme Pavilion, Expo Center, Expo Performance Center, Expo Boulevard, Expo Civilization Pavilion, Expo Museum, Expo Admin Hall. In addition, Rexel also supplied switch and socket gear for electrical cabinets for InterContinental Hotel located in the Expo Park.

Total sales resulting from these projects amounted to over €3.5 million (32 millions RMB).
