Rexel Canada and Gexpro team up to highlight Energeasy Storage solution at Smart Energy event in Atlantic Canada

Energy storage is an increasingly discussed topic in Canada. It was the main theme of the Smart Energy conference taking place on April 25-26, 2016.

With an increasingly decentralized energy system, which now integrates renewable energies that produce intermittent energy, the storage of energy is the next step in building an efficient, smart and clean energy world. Technologies have evolved in recent years and are now mature enough to be deployed at a larger scale. According to market research firm IHS, the energy storage market could grow from 0.34 gigawatts (GW) installed in 2012, to 6 GW installed in 2017 to 40 GW by 2022.

energeasy_storageAs part of its energy management solutions under the Energeasy label, Rexel has developed Energeasy storage, a program that offers an integrated energy storage technical solution as well as financing options, administrative support and maintenance services. It was first initiated in North America, where commercial and industrial users need to cope with increasing energy costs as well as the demand charges, heavily impacting their energy bills. With Energeasy storage, power is collected when the utility rates are low and reused when costs are high, resulting in 20-30% cost reduction for the consumer. Using Energeasy storage, commercial and small industrial customers can optimize their energy consumption and reduce their energy bills by relying on their own energy system, thereby avoiding demand charges during high peak hours.

POWER-IQ-«-30In order to develop the Energeasy storage program in the USA, Gexpro, a Rexel subsidiary, has partnered with Growing Energy Labs, Inc. (Geli), Ideal Power and LG Chem to offer Honeycomb symbol onlyPower IQ 30, a fully integrated intelligent battery energy storage solution. Gexpro has already been successful with Honeycomb symbol onlyPower IQ 30, generating a lot of traction with customers in several US states since its launch.

Beyond the USA, energy storage is also an increasingly discussed topic in Canada. It was the main theme of the Smart Energy conference taking place on April 25-26, 2016 in Atlantic Canada, bringing together academics, researchers, and government to industry business leaders and start-ups from around the world. Rexel Canada – Atlantic Division is sponsoring this event and identified the opportunity to collaborate with Gexpro to determine the market potential of Honeycomb symbol onlyPower IQ 30 and receive local expert feedback at this conference.

Joining forces for success, Gexpro experts were happy to support Rexel Canada through their participation in the event. As a result, Mike Kendzierski, Energy Storage Technical Specialist at Gexpro and Chuck Rames, Director of Sales & Strategic Partnerships at Geli, will highlight their successful partnership in the USA and provide insights as to how to address the energy storage market.
