The Economist Intelligence Unit publishes energy efficiency study sponsored by Rexel

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), by 2030, energy efficiency will account for a 49% reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions. Azs the single biggest source of emissions reductions in the fight against climate change, investment in energy efficiency solutions has grown exponentially.

The Economist Intelligence Unit’s most recent report, sponsored by Rexel, analyzes how the governments of five mature economies (US, Canada, the UK, France and Germany) are working to limit their country’s carbon emissions by developing energy efficiency’s initiatives.

These initiatives fall into three main categories:

  • Increasing access to information on energy use and ways to reduce it;
  • Offering incentives in the form of grants, loans or tax breaks for upgrades; and
  • Supporting or directly providing energy-use labelling and ratings systems for products and for buildings.
